Phobos was one of two moons orbiting Mars (the other being Deimos).

Arkady secretly installed a rocket system into Phobos in the event that it was turned into a government weapons platform and gave the control panel to Nadia. During The First Martian Revolution, Nadia activates the rockets and Phobos crashes into the surface of Mars, destroying the entire moon and causing a massive meteor shower.
